소개 1988년 12월에 고은, 백낙청, 이건용, 임진택 등이 ‘민족 예술의 발전과 문화예술운동의 대중화’를 위해 설립한 단체이다. 초대 사무총장은 시인 신경림이 맡았다. 1993년 8월 9일에 사단법인으로 등록되어 경기, 인천, 부산 등 53개의 지부와 지회가 개설되었다. 2012년에 ‘한국민족예술인총연합'에서 ‘한국민족예술단체총연합’으로 명칭을 변경하였다. 민족건축인협회, 민족굿위원회, 한국민족극운동협회, 한국작가회의(구 민족문학작가회의), 자유실천위원회, 민족미술인협회, 민족사진가협회, 민족서예인협회 등이 소속되어 있다. 주요 활동으로는 문화아카데미 진행, 월간 『민족예술』의 발간 등이 있다. 월간 『민족예술』은 2004년 12월호까지 발간된 후 폐간되었다.
소개(영문) The Korean People’s Artist Federation (Minyechong) was established in December 1988 by Go Eun, Baek Nak-cheong, Lee Geon-yong, and Lim Jin-taek for “the development of national art and popularization of cultural and artistic movements.” The first secretary-general was poet Shin Kyung-rim. On August 9, 1993, it was registered as a corporation and 53 local branches were opened, including Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Busan. In 2012, the name was changed from the “Korean National Artists Association” to “The Korean People’s Artist Federation.” It includes the National Architects Association, the National Gut (traditional exorcism performance) Committee, the Korean National Drama Movement Association, the Korean Writers' Association (formerly the National Literature Writers' Association), the Free Practice Committee, the National Artists Association, the National Photographer Association, and the National Calligraphic Association. Major activities include hosting a cultural academy and the publication of the monthly journal National Art (minjokyesul). The final issue of National Art was published in December 2004.
