Babyopera is a company that creates performances for children 0-3 years. It is led by initiator, director and scenographer Christina Lindgren with a team composed for each project. Since 2006, Christina Lindgren have created five performances for this age group. The performances have toured fifteen countries on three continents with a total of 930 presentations. Babyart is led by Hee Sun Kim. It is a company that created art experiences for children and youth from 0 years old. Babyart aims to reach out to children in different places in the world to inspire and embrace children with the arts. Babyart has co-created Mago with Babyopera Norway in 2018; successfully premiered in South Korea and Norway. MAGO is a performance for children 0 – 3 years created by Sami music by Torgeir Vassvik, choreography by Hyun Kim, dance based on Korean traditional dance by Geon Kim, direction by Christina Lindgren and scenography by Yun Kyung Bae/ costume by Christina Lindgren. It is a result of Nordic-Korean-Connnection which is a co-operating and exchange programme connecting Korean and Nordic performing arts professionals working with young audiences ages 0 –18 years. Partners are Korean Arts Management and Performing Arts Hub Norway. The premiere of MAGO took place July 27th in Oil Tank Cultural Park, Seoul and had performances in Norway December 2018. About the position We are searching reliable and open minded dancer, trained in traditional Korean dance, to be casted for the position of dancer in the performance MAGO. This will involve touring in Europe, Asia and other continents based on invitations from Children Performing Arts Festivals and other events. The invitations will come 6-12 months upfront the guestplay. The aim of the performance is to give adult and children an experience on the same level. An art experience. This performance is not based on classical story-telling. The quality of MAGO lays in the quality of the movements, the scenography/ costumes, the sounds and the mood. We need a performer that trust this fact and enjoy this quality. MAGO aims to give a not-everyday-experience through an aesthetic presence in the here-and-now.
Tasks Be in dialogue with Babyopera/ Bayart regarding availability to tour Travel to venue and from venue Perform for one or more days: two, maximum three performances each day, each performance lasting 25 minutes. Time management Salary is approximately: 250 Euro / day of performance (2 times * 30 mins) 200 Euro/ day of travel Travel, accommodation, per diem will be covered Requirements trained in traditional Korean dance available for world touring English speaking & communicative level interested in travelling and visiting other countries can be man or woman. The performer (Mago) must be comfortable with wearing a dress self-confidence and natural authority at the stage age: can be older, but must be able to handle MAGO´s level of technically movement-wise not necessarily be a mother/ father in order to perform for children experience for earlier performing for children is not necessary. This is because performing for children 0 – 3 years is slightly different from performing for older children.
